Obviously, with the reveal that “Hit Somebody” would be the last ever directorial effort from Kevin before retirement, many were left scratching their heads, wondering if a Clerks III/3 would ever see the light. Rather than speculate, here’s the writer/director himself on that possibility:

You gotta love when a single line in a press release or story can set off a huge cascading bunch of rumors on the web. Thank goodness, Kevin steps forward to set things straight. Variety recently ran a story titled “Miramax, Weinstein Co. pact for sequels” in which the “Clerks” franchise was named, among a group of other films, which were part of the back catalog and could potentially be leveraged for use in future projects.
